ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING MODES

o   From Mode 2 to Mode 4, our INGEREV brand offers all the possibilities

o   But do you know what charging modes are?

Ingeteam are experts in power electronics, we have been in the industry for more than 45 years now and have been working with renewable energies for 3 decades. Under the Ingerev brand, we have designed recharging points for electric cars of all characteristics. To get to know this product better, you should know that there are different modes.

Mode 1 charging is the one that can be done in a non-specific socket, i.e. in any household socket. This charging mode is useful for small scooters or electric bikes. However, due to its limited safety it is not recommended for higher power vehicles.

Mode 2, also for home use, is a recharging method that is performed by connecting the vehicle to the electricity grid by means of an adaptor that provides safety. This is a single-phase charging mode and provides a voltage of 230V (between 3.7 kW and 7.4 kW).

For private use, the most popular is Mode 3, a semi-fast charger which typically uses between 16 and 32 Amps (up to 22 kW). While the charging rate is not its primary goal, it is a very affordable alternative for personal use.

This mode requires equipment that is prepared and designed solely for recharging electric cars. This device offers the possibility to perform a single-phase or three-phase recharging in alternating current.

However, for public use Mode 4 is the type most in demand, both in petrol stations and at other public charging points. This mode recharges about 70% of the battery in half an hour. The charging point in this case is direct current and offers power of 50 kW or more.

Ingeteam Electric Mobility offers the following options:

-      Ingerev GARAGE: Mode 3

-      Ingerev FUSION: Mode 2 and Mode 3

-      Ingerev RAPID: Mode 3 and Mode 4

Success story: Mode 3

At an Endesa car park in Seville, we set up mode 3 charging points so that workers could charge their electric cars while they were in the office. This mode is the best option in this case, as a quick recharge is not required given the hours that the cars spend parked there.

Success story: Mode 4

We installed a Mode 4 electric car recharging point at the famous Cándido restaurant in Segovia. The time customers spend in this type of establishment is limited: the time it takes to eat a meal. Therefore, this situation requires a fast recharging mode that guarantees the highest percentage of battery in the shortest time: Mode 4.
